When he returned, Brent Jackson and the Director locked Sauron in confinement. Interestingly enough, these Asian performance ratios are remarkably similar to those worked out by Nathaniel Weyl in his book The Geography of American Achievement , in which he estimated that Korean and Chinese names were over-represented by percent or more on the complete lists of national NMS semifinalists, while Vietnamese names were only somewhat more likely to appear than the white average. He also had to replace motor mounts which were worn. Once we do this and compare the Jewish and non-Jewish white totals for various lists of top academic performers, we notice a striking pattern, with the historical ratios once ranging from near-equality to about one-in-four up until the recent collapse in Jewish performance. In another strong historical parallel, all the other Ivy League universities seem to have gone through similar shifts in Asian enrollment at similar times and reached a similar plateau over the last couple of decades. The rest of the Ivy League tends to follow a similar pattern, with the overall Jewish ratio being percent, the Asian figure at 62 percent, and the ratio for non-Jewish whites a low 35 percent, all relative to their number of high-ability college-age students. Korean Girls In Toronto

After ruminating over his origins, he began draining the energy from Alex. He drained more energy than he expected and suddenly transformed into a large pteranodon-human hybrid. He quickly desired to live a life of evil and set out to steal from others, calling himself Sauron after the villain in Tolkien' books. Sauron saw Angel of the X-Men flying through the air and hypnotized him.

Sauron resisted an optic blast from Cyclops and a telekinetic shield from Marvel Girl, hypnotizing her into attacking her teammates. Angel, now himself again, punched Sauron, who grabbed Angel with his talons before Beast punched him down. Weakened by a blast of cold from Iceman, Sauron began to revert to Lykos while airborne before he could escape.

Before he could fall, he hypnotized Angel again, commanding him to return his human form to Lykos' practice. Lykos commanded Angel to depart, remembering nothing, then was shocked to see Tanya at Alex' bedside. She said she"d rushed to see him despite her father forbidding her not to as she"d had a terrible premonition about him. Alex awoke, feeling refreshed, just as his friends came to pick him up.

Tanya told Lykos she wanted to marry him, then her father walked in the room and demanded Tanya come with him. Lykos told the Anderssens that he would not marry Tanya until he had means, and she fled from the room in tears. He dismissed Alex and his friends, saying he"d send them a bill and already planning his revenge.

Lykos snuck into the X-Men' mansion and drained the energy from the mutant Lorna Dane, reverting to Sauron, then drained more from the sleeping Angel and Havok. He then flew to get revenge on Anderssen, and Tanya immediately recognized him as Lykos. Beast, Cyclops, and Marvel Girl opposed him, but Sauron fled when he realized how evil he was and how he"d almost hurt Tanya.

He flew to Tierra del Fuego again, determined to isolate himself, and landed, exhausted. As Lykos again, he grew weaker over the following days, and was distraught when Tanya found him there. Hidden Years 10 fb - Lykos landed on a cliff, hidden from view of the X-Men. After waiting for a time, he climbed down and found himself in the Savage Land, where he figured he be able to live in peace by feeding off the dinosaur' energies.

Not wanting to endanger the humans there, he rowed out to a small island and found a cabin built above an abandoned geothermal energy project. He worked to restore the project, hoping to use it to perpetually feed him. Drake awoke with no memory, and Lykos saw that he was fed and taken care of.

Hidden Years 10 - Though Drake' memory was still gone, he began to think that Lykos looked familiar to him. Hidden Years 12 - Lykos continued working on the geothermal equipment with Drake helping him. Drake asked his name, and Lykos told him it was Joe Smith.

Lykos soon left on his daily hunt, attacking a baby dinosaur and draining its life.

Drake approached, shocking Lykos, just before Magneto destroyed the dinosaur corpse with a blast of power, stating that he needed to kill them both as they were in his way. They both fled into the woods. Hidden Years 12 - Drake grabbed Lykos to see if he was okay, and Lykos, unable to stop himself, drained much of Drake' powers, automatically turning back into Sauron.

Hidden Years 12 - Sauron immediately attacked Magneto and put him in a trance, making him think they were fighting the X-Men, until Drake, now as Iceman with his memories restored, stopped him. Havok and Magnetrix later Polaris were also there with him. Sauron then hypnotized Havok into attacking Magneto, but Magneto used the lava from under the station to overwhelm Havok until Magneto' power source was cut off.

Magneto fell into the lava and pleaded with Sauron for help, offering an alliance, but Sauron refused. He turned to attack the X-Men again, but a blast from Iceman dissuaded him. He reasoned that if he defeated the X-Men, the other X-Men would come after him. So instead, he hypnotized them into forgetting the entire fight and sent them on their way.

Sauron flew to the Savage Land, determined to stay there. X-Men I fb - Lykos survived by landing on a lower ledge and slowly climbing down into the Savage Land. X-Men I - Lykos spent the following months recovering and healing, draining energy from animals as he needed to. He soon came upon a strange procession and witnessed Zaladane leading a group of priests and acolytes in awakening the petrified man, Garokk, by sacrificing Kirk Marston.

Lykos watched as Garokk angrily destroyed an extra-dimensional city, placed in the Savage Land by the Sheenarians. Lykos allied with Ka-Zar, Tongah, Nereel, and others, and they opposed Garokk and Zaladane, who"d constructed a city through slave labor and who sought to control the Savage Land.

He approached Storm later and was taken over by his hunger. He grabbed her and absorbed too much power too quickly. He reverted back to Sauron and prepared to battle the X-Men. X-Men I - Wolverine leapt at Sauron, who easily put Wolverine under his influence and turned him against him friends. Banshee knocked Sauron away with a sonic scream, then Sauron was hit by another scream and Cyclops' optic blast simultaneously.

Sauron fled, then snuck up on Colossus, quickly draining more energy. When Colossus switched from human to armored forms, however, the energy surge was too much for Sauron, who was knocked aside and reverted back to Lykos. Wolverine nearly killed Lykos, but Ka-Zar and Zabu stopped him. The X-Men initially refused to aid Lykos and his allies against Garokk' forces, but when it started snowing in the Savage Land, they changed their minds.

Lykos bid them farewell, choosing to remain behind. Tanya saw this article and decided to go look for him. The two lovers were happily reunited, their doubts about each other put to rest, and she told them of her friends Angel and Peter Parker Spider-Man being captured by the Mutates.

Just then, the camp came under attack by the cult and a devolved Angel and Spider-Man. Lykos was hit by a swipe from Angel' claws, and Angel soon captured Tanya, returning her to the Mutates. Many of the Fall People were killed, and the survivors moved in to attack.

At the citadel, Lykos saw that Tanya had been strapped to a machine and placed in front of a genetic transformer. He leaped in, hitting Amphibius with a stick and drawing a gun as Brainchild activated the transformer and changed Tanya into a cavewoman. Vertigo hit Lykos with a blast, disorienting him, and he fired his gun wildly, grazing her with a bullet.

As the Mutates were taken down and the machine was destroyed, Lykos realized that the only way to save Tanya was to absorb the machine' energies. He touched her and did so, despite the risk it presented of turning him back into Sauron, then repeated the procedure on Angel and Parker, reverting all three of them back to normal.

Transformed into Sauron again but struggling to remain in control, Lykos fled, promising to have his revenge on Ka-Zar. Brainchild constructed another machine, calling this one his mutant energy accelerator. Sauron revealed himself, hypnotizing them easily into defeat, though Angel escaped by fleeing into the cold upper atmosphere which Sauron couldn't stand.

The X-Men were strapped into Brainchild' machine, and Sauron planned to continually devolve them and absorb their energy, giving him an endless energy supply. Marvel Fanfare I 4 - Sauron drained the energies from the X-Men, restoring them to their natural states, and ordered them to be devolved again. He investigated an attack on the citadel and found Ka-Zar and Angel outside.

Sauron pursued Angel and easily hypnotized him into defeat. He returned to the citadel to find the X-Men freed and the Mutates and Zaladane defeated. Sauron dropped Angel, making Nightcrawler rescue his teammate, then screamed as Storm hit him with a massive cold front. Falling, Sauron was punched by Colossus and Wolverine, then buried in a rockpile, but he still escaped.

However, when Storm attacked him again, he reverted to Lykos, too drained of energy. Lykos was reunited with the newly evolved Tanya, and he worried about his ability to fend off Sauron again. Professor X conducted a series of experiments on Karl, and effectively rendered his mutant virus inert. Karl and Tanya embraced, finally having a chance at a normal life together.

X-Force I 5 - Lykos, who"d settled into a peaceful normal life with Tanya in Manhattan, returned from grocery shopping to find Blob and Toad in his home, holding Tanya threateningly. Blob slammed Lykos into the wall as Toad explained they were there to recruit him for the new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants team.

They took Lykos and Tanya to an abandoned warehouse and strapped them into a siphoning machine. Toad forced the machine to drain Tanya' life into Lykos, restoring him into Sauron and leaving Tanya dead. They did so, cornering Shatterstar, Siryn, and Warpath outside. Sauron lifted Shatterstar above the melee in order to kill him. After evading gunfire for a time, Sauron entered the building and slashed Cannonball with his taloned wing, seemingly killing him.

X-Force I 8 - Sauron held the seemingly dead Cannonball in his hands. Cable shot at Sauron. Recovered, Sauron followed Cable to the med-labs, wondering why Cable thought Cannonball would come back to life. Sauron tried mesmerizing Cable, but Cable held him off with gunfire.

Feral then leapt at Sauron, slashing him, and Sauron fell down after repeated shots from Cable passed through him. Masque was killed, and the rest of the Brotherhood fled while Sauron lay defeated. X-Factor I 82 - Having floated to the harbor in his regenerative state, Sauron was renewed when a vagrant floated by him and he absorbed the vagrant' life force. He surfaced to hear Mr.

Coswell talking about a group of mutants. After resting a bit, Sauron retrieved the Brotherhood, and they attempted to recruit those mutants the X-Patriots, including Lukas, Pirouette, and Prodigal , laying havoc on the docks and killing many. Infuriated, Wolfsbane lashed at his throat, causing him to drop her, then Polaris defeated Sauron with a magnetic blast.

The entire Brotherhood was soon defeated. Darkhawk 19 - Sauron, eager for revenge on his enemies, was pleased when Toad had the Brotherhood go after Portal, an ally who could give them teleporting capabilities. They used teamwork to attack several Guardsmen who were trying to capture Portal, and made sure to kill each of the guards.

Sauron broke one man' neck after lifting him into the sky. Toad killed one by clogging the man' mouth and eyes with resin. They pursued Portal, who tried to run, but the heroes Darkhawk and Spider-Man attacked. Sauron tried hypnotizing Darkhawk, but Spider-Man kicked him aside. Later in the battle, Sauron closed Darkhawk in his jaws and was slashed in return, then Portal shot Sauron down.

Blob and Toad managed to grab their unconscious allies and escape. Darkhawk 20 - The Brotherhood tracked down Portal at his tribe' headquarters. Sauron drained the life from a guard, then put Portal under his hypnotic control. Toad instructed Portal to take them to a weapon' facility in Seattle so that they might steal a new laser cannon, but Portal took them to Times Square, New York, instead.

Spider-Man, Darkhawk, and Sleepwalker attacked them immediately. Sauron had Portal who just woke up after being hit by Blob attack the heroes while he dove at Sleepwalker, who evaded. Sauron then had Portal trap Spider-Man in another dimension. At Toad' order, Sauron created a diversion by throwing billboards at the humans below, then the Brotherhood fled through a portal, pursued by Sleepwalker.

Sleepwalker 17 - Back at their headquarters, the Brotherhood blamed Sauron for Portal' mistake, but Sauron claimed Portal was still a valuable asset, and grew violent with Blob until Toad calmed them down. They focused on testing Portal' powers for a time until Darkhawk and Sleepwalker attacked them at headquarters. Sauron leapt at Sleepwalker, but accidentally hit Pyro' flames, causing Toad' clothes to start on fire as well.

Sauron ordered Portal to take them to their back-up base, and they fled through his portal, but Darkhawk stopped Portal from following them and the portal closed. They started working to capture all of the Fall People tribe. Wolverine II 70 - Sauron, donning a new costume, savagely battled Wolverine over a chasm of fire as Amphibius, Barbarus, and Equilibrius cheered him on.

Sauron shrugged off taunts and claw scratches, hitting Wolverine from every side and slowly weakening the mutant, even slashing a tendon and preventing Wolverine from standing momentarily. Wolverine nearly knocked them both into the chasm, but Sauron managed to leap free, then ordered the Mutates to pile rocks on Wolverine, submerging him.

He then ordered a stampede of dinosaurs to rush the chasm, burying the hero further. Wolverine II 71 - Wolverine managed to use the dinosaurs to climb out of the chasm just as Rogue rushed in to aid him, both frightening the Mutates. Rogue and Sauron had a brief aerial battle until she knocked him aside.

Sauron flew at them again but listened to Rogue' plan to aid Sauron. Willing to work with the mutants, Sauron ordered his Mutates to stand down, then Wolverine knocked Sauron out. They took him to the former City of the Sun and strapped him into the genetic machine of Brainchild.

They planned to devolve Sauron into Lykos, but Sauron managed to convince them to free him as the Savage Land was a wild place with its own culture. Sauron had many natives captured and brought before him, so that he could drain their lives. Brainchild, meanwhile, worked to set up an energy draining system for Sauron to place Havok in.

X-Men Unlimited I 6 - Sauron drained the life of Tuval of the Sky People, then demanded that more be brought to him, but Barbarus told him their captives were gone. Sauron leapt at Barbarus in an attack before stopping himself, then Gaza brought news of Whiteout and Worm' return, informing him that their ship had crashed.

Sauron struggled with mental visions of his past, particularly Tanya. Sauron saw Havok returned and was eager to feed, despite Brainchild' reservations about a fast feeding, but decided to use Havok as bait when he sensed the other X-Men Cyclops, Phoenix Jean Grey-Summers , Polaris near. When they approached, Sauron knocked Phoenix unconscious, then avoided a blast from Cyclops.

Sauron hypnotized Polaris into unconsciousness as well and Cyclops chose to surrender. Whiteout used a Black Lotus flower to make Cyclops fall asleep, and both he and Havok were put into the draining system. Brainchild set up a steady energy drain both heroes' powers were being blocked while Sauron gloried in his triumph. Caught in an insane vision of his Lykos self, Sauron drained the energy he needed from the heroes.

Sauron drained the energy too quickly, and Brainchild could not shut the machine down. Sauron began to transform with too much power, growing veins and spikes all over his body. Polaris and Phoenix destroyed the machine and rescued their allies, soon departing, but Sauron attacked them again, knocking them from the air. He attacked anew, insanely raving about Lykos, and hypnotized both women into fighting each other.

Havok nearly attacked Cyclops as well, but they fell out of Sauron' range and attacked Sauron again. Puma Guy FL writes: I agree with Mike Rule. I can definitely recommend Hugo's garage. Hugo was knowledgeable, thorough, accommodating and friendly. Estimates were clear and well-documented. Positive points about his work were many.

Negative points speed of repair work, small oversights when putting interior items back in place were very, very minor. Hugo is the man when it comes to VW service in Gainesville. He was recommended to me by another good mechanic and has been nothing but a pleasure to work with.

His prices are fair and the work is always top quality. I've used him for brakes, coolant leaks, control arms, a CV axle, and even a custom Volvo oil-cooler installation on my Corrado. He knows his stuff. Hugo's is a down-to-earth straight-shooting shop Their labor isn't bargain basement, but they are the most honest VW mechanic shop I've ever dealt with.

I was passing through Gainesville on the beginning of a cross-country trip when my 84 Vanagon started inexplicably overheating. Fortunately for me, Smitty's was too busy to even look at my vanagon, and I went around the corner to Hugo's. They fixed my cooling problem along with a couple other items that needed attention , and got me back on my way that afternoon.

Didn't gouge me on the parts, even though I was stuck and probably would've paid whatever they asked. Very professional and friendly folks in this shop. Jeff is simply phenomenal. Very knowledgeable , honest and gives you straightforward advice. Very current in technical and product knowhow and charges extremely optimum rates. Huge fan of VolksWurks.

They specialize in Jetta 1. I had the computer chip in my dashboard go out awful, awful experience, car wouldn't recognize my key and would shut itself off instead of turning on and after my normal mechanic couldn't figure it out, I knew I needed a VW specialist. Towed it to Jeff and within an hour got a call back about what was wrong.

He told me bc it had to do with my keys and that they would have to be rekeyed, only the dealership could do that. So I had the dealership fix it but told them that they weren't allowed to touch or fix anything else. He was my go to guy after that. They are super fast, good communication, and really reasonably priced. Can't recommend this place enough. Called Terry because I know several people who've had great service there honest, told people they didn't actually need services requested by others, etc.

The other locations on this site seemed far from me in SW Gainesville. I had a check engine light come on, brought my car in at noon, and it was done by 3pm. They were quick, thorough and courteous. They were straight-shooters, no attempts to sell me on other stuff or look for things to "tune-up. V World of Miami has been in business for over twenty years.

They are the go to guys for your VW repair needs. I would recommend them for affordable prices and professional service. Called today for work on my "new" Rialta. Several years and no complaints. My Vw TDI Jetta is going on 13 years old and has been going to the German car depot for service and repairs since the warranty ran out.

I have had no complaints, recently I had a catastrophic failure in my standard transmission which they replaced it was not perfect at first for the first replacement trannie was dysfunctional so they warrantied it without hesitation and found another which is now I am 50 years old and have had a lot of cars, this one is my favorite. Its been running on biodiesel no affiliation with the VW Depot for several years, so I am not part of the oil problem, Thanks to the help of the VW depot keeping my VW in great shape.

I think the price are fair and the quality of the service excellent. I will definitely come back in the future and certainly recommend my friends who own a VW or Audi to go to German Car Depot. I've always had the fear of having someone other than the dealership work on my 02 Jetta VW turbo engine. However, after doing lots and lots of research and seeing nothing but great reviews from those who have serviced their vehicles with German Car Depot, I went with my gut and gave them a try.

I called and spoke directly with Alan the owner and made an appt. His staff was also very kind and friendly. Previously, I had taken my car to the dealership because my car wasn't driving to its capability but the dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it. That's what prompted my call to German Car Depot. After they scanned my vehicle, Alan sat with me and was very thorough with my cars diagnostic.

My car is NOW performing to my expectations and honestly I couldn't be happier. I will most definitely keep taking my car to get serviced there from now on with no hesitation. I couldn't be happier with the decision. I am a very satisfied customer with German Car Depot and I highly recommend them!! I have been there a few times for reg.

The prices they charge and the atmosphere will keep me coming back. I recommend them highly. Once again i walk away from Vdepot- German Car Depot, with great satisfaction. The professionalism and the "go the extra mile " attitude I've received will always have me coming back for any and all service needs, not to mention high recommendations to any and all friends and VW and Audi owners..

To Alan and the crew,, Thank You very much.. I received thoughtful patient service on the phone and upon visiting the place Thank you Luis and Rich. The shop, waiting area, and reception are clean and customer friendly. What I was most impressed with is a real lack of the usual disconnect that you see at dealerships between your "service advisor" and the people actually doing service.

Repair personnel were in the reception area and seemed genuinely interesting in listening to and addressing customer concerns. My wife's VW will get any needed service here and my Q7 will be getting serviced here as well. Many thanks to Alan and his team. In addition to great prices, they provide professional, knowledgeable, and timely service.

Spare yourself the aggravation at other shops and come to V Depot Shop Rating: I was extremely satisfied by the service, the environment and the quality given to the work and to myself I like V Depot because everyone treats you with respect. I also do not feel "Cheated" just because I an a female. About 4mons ago I took my Jetta to a shop to be fixed.

I was not happy with them. Needless to say they did a less then professional job. I found V-Depot on line, read all the reviews and decided to give them a try. I found them to be honest, prompt and curtious. A most execellent job. A week later there was a gas leak in my engine so I returned it to V-Depot to have them look at it.

They have taken my car and have done an above and beyond duty in order to make me happy. Including renting me a car while they work on it. They have done more then just being professional, more then just making me happy. They now have a life long customer in me. I will never take my car to any place other then V-Depot. I Thank You for the work you have done and friendlyness in which you have done it in.

I received a great price for air conditioning, was treated with respect a rarity for women! They do great work - totally trust them with my car and wallet!!! Allan and the guys at V depot have taken care of both my VW's for almost ten years. Nobody else touches my car except them. I simply cannot justify going to the dealer and being ripped off.

My current Golf has over , miles on it and it still runs beautifully and thanks to the V depot guys I'm planning to keep it for many years. Allan you are the best and I highly recommend your services to any VW or Audi owner. I have had my VW Jetta serviced at every single dealer throughout S. Florida and am grateful to find V Depot. They only fix what is broken and would not tell you otherwise.

I do not plan on getting another Jetta but would definitely get an Audi next simply because I know who my mechanics will be. This shop is by far the best automotive repair facility I've ever done business with. The owners and staff are very committed to delivering high quality results to thier customers. I highly reccomend them. I have been going to V Depot for alittle while now and usually go during the week when Rich is working.

I have never had a problem with the wait time or with the staff. I had decided to take my Jetta in on a saturday since I was in the area for a simple oil change and boy was that a mistake I will never go in on a saturday again. The owner was rude and blew me off.

He had no idea what was going on and it was the longest wait I had to ever deal with. I was shocked on how little Alan knew concerning what was going on. Things seemed very unorganized. I will still take my car to this establishment because they are a great shop.

But I would rather spend my saturday relaxing. If you want my advice go during the week. Rich and Sebastian are very personal and have things together so that you feel that you are being treated like an important client. Thanks to that team. Every customer gets a thank you email and is asked to fill out a survey we keep track of our csi. PS; you did not mention the problem you told the technician to look at and we chased for a hour with out charging you anything.

Tipping the tec is not the way to get around me. I have to control jobs on a sat. Keeping the majority of the jobs on time is the hardest part. Please sit down a talk to me about how poor I handled your repair I would like to learn from it. Thanks Ollie Shop Rating: By far the most reputable place I have ever taken my Jetta. I have dealt with other dealers in NY and Florida and always had walked away with the foreboding feeling of getting "ripped off', esp.

Not a V Depot! Ritchie is always professional, easy to talk and always answers my questions-even over the phone! Alan goes out of the way to explain and even show me on the car the work I need done and why. The atmosphere is professional yet relaxed. The waiting room has free wireless internet service which is a plus when I need to wait for my car.

I feel this place gives fast, reliable service at a very reasonable price. Super Duper VW Guy writes: As soon as my Warranty ran out though a couple of things happened, MY Check Engine Light went on for a few days, then went off and then the EPC light would come on for an hour or so at a time.

My Air Conditioning stopped cooling and the drivers side headlamb went out and I decided to make an appointment with The Volkswagen Dealership, I was 30 minutes late and Esserman rescheduled me for another day. Though all the bays were filled with V Dubs or Audis - I thought I'd be in for a wait but the service writer assured me he would have it on the computer in minutes - Sebastian, My Mechanic, immediately poped the bonnet and began his assements.

I won't get into the technical aspects but let me suffice to say. My Headlight was working, the Air was Blowing as Cold as ever, an engine sensor and a brakelight switch were replaced, as well, all in under 30 minutes and at half the price of the dealership.

I didn't even have time to use the restroom, though it did look clean. Thanks to the staff at V-Depot - competent, friendly and very fairly priced - I will be back for any service my car requires Shop Rating: I 'm a Happy Guy thanks to the whole crew and three nice Golden retriever s. Porsch-lynn is very peas full PS: Treated me like they really felt bad my car was broke.

When I take my car to VDepot I am treated with respect and treated as a individual unlike the dealerships. Alan and his crew are top notch. I never liked how Gunther Volkswagen treated me anyway. I brought my Cabrio to V Depot for the first time last week and was very happy with the experience. To start with, everything about the place is so clean and professional looking.

The work was performed reasonably quick, the price was fair and my car was returned to me without any greasy fingerprints or smudges left behind by a mechanic. The waiting room was comfortable and had free Wi-Fi a nice touch for us laptop junkies. My car was in an accident and they helped me through the entire process making the experience very painless.

The shop is probably the cleanest I have ever been to and the waiting room reminded me of a car dealership but without the high price I was quoted there! I would highly recommend them! I've owned VW's for over 20 years. This is by far the best shop I've ever used.

But my experience at Vdepot was painless. As someone whose work entails travel, my car is my livelihood, so getting things done right is important. Based in Florida now, I wanted an alternative and I heard about this place from a colleague in Miami. They quoted me a price that was lower than what the dealer quoted me.

I was told what, why and how, and it never felt like a sales pitch. I spoke not only with the owner but the mechanic. I decided to give them a try. The dealer told me I needed brakes on all four wheels and it only needed rear pads. Very clean shop , quiet waiting room with free espresso and internet access.

They make the most horrible thing about a car easy. The bathroom is so nice that I wish it was in my house. V Depot is top of the line because my motor was making a strange noise for about a month and everyone gave me the wrong diagnostic; some said it was engine and other comments but when i called Alan he told me to send him the vehicle.

Usually on a Saturday, shops don't accept any vehicles after 4: The vehicle got to Alan's shop by 4: I wouldn't recommend anyone else other than V Depot if you own a Volkswagen. Thanks a million guys. They also have one of the best reasonable labor prices around. May all the blessings from above reside with your knowledge and your shop.

Thanks for the great service. I will be a loyal customer for life. They have the cleanest shop and bathroom I have ever been to. The V-Depot does excellent mechanical work at a fair price -- not at rip-off prices like the stealerships. I had a seized engine they brought back to life.

It now runs better than ever. You may wait a little longer at V-Depot, but I think that is a testament to how many people trust their work. I took my car in for new brakes, after three weeks I heard a clunking sound and discovered that one of my lug nuts was completely off. Two month later I heard a screeching sound coming from my bake rear well and discovered my rear caliper was off - the bolts were never tightened.

They were very aloof of the entire situation. The Anonymous person who wrote the review admitted that his brother worked on his car after our shop told him his rear brakes needed emergency brake cables. You cannot make everyone happy. Alan has treated us fair and looked out for our best interests. Prices are much less than the dealer. I do not feel like pressure when I bring my car in for repairs.

These guys are a real treat to work with. Very patient and get things done when your in a crunch Big Blue had a few hiccups after sitting for a while while I was at work and they had him back in shape that day.. Extremely knolagable, and friendly front staff. Very Passionate about classic VWs and will be sure to stop in again when I hit the road again. A Big thanks again to the guys!

Buddy at the front desk, and Haviare the classic VW doctor. Good prices, exceptional work. He also helped me by listing various other needed repairs on the bus and even took calls after I was several states away for advice. Can't say enough good things! These guys are great!

I was passing through Jacksonville on a road trip and my exhaust pipe broke on my VW Westfalia. The guys at Hilltop took a quick look at it and fit me into their busy schedule. They had me back on the road in just a few short hours! The water pump siezed and shredded all 3 belts and was towed to Hill Top due to the positive recommendations here at roadhaus and samba.

I provided my own graf water pump, belt, coolant and distilled water. They were prompt, courteous, very knowlegeable and if I had split hairs on something to gripe about is that they did not use my distilled water to add to the coolant. Labor might have been a little steep but I might just be used to working on the camper myself: I recommend them and hope this experience helps somebody in the future.

Have been on the road a couple of times with problems, traveling from North Georgia to Central Florida, gave them a call, and they said to come on in. As busy as they always are, they got us right in, and back on the road in record time. They have most any part needed in stock, are great people to talk to, and they are reasonable. The owner and technicians are VW trained and have many years of experience.

The also sell used VW's there, Shop Rating: I have to say until recently i had never heard of this place, i have a bug with auto stick and needed the engine rebuilt. I took it to them and they did a wounderful job. I love this place Shop Rating: Bought my Mom a Jetta and had this shop look at it. They told us everything that was wrong and fixed some things for free. Makes you want to only buy VW.

They take care of everyone who uses them. If you want good service and low process this is the shop. I have been going to Glenn for about 25 years, with both gas and diesel. Always excellant work, at very fair price. Both Glenn and Jim will take time to really listen to your maint.

His machanics have been there for years as well and know their stuff. He has odd and hard to find parts for very old cars and will not rip you off. Great People and the shop has anything you could ever need for a VW,new or used!!!!! Low shipping rates also! Been in buisness for 40 years Jim and Glen were very helpful!

Met them at the car show in dade city and have been a customer ever since! This place is cool,i recomend Shop Rating: Courteous, know their stuff. Perhaps they would have been a good shop if they fixed my car correctly one of the 3 times I brought it in to get fixed. I was so happy when I drove past and saw that the unexperienced had left the VW Biz This shop is one of the best in Jacksonville, they will always treat you right.

Jason and crew at Wagen Werks are top notch. I've been taking my 84 Vanagon Westy to them for about 4 years now. Prices are very fair. They just did a full engine swap from my 1. The guys did a great job on the swap. I highly recommend Wagen Werks Shop Rating: This guy is amazing. On impluse I bought a VW Cabrio which turned out to have been stolen and rewired improperly.

For 8 months I had nothing but problems, I went through 4 mechanics all of whom "said" they knew what was wrong and how to fix it-for 3 months it just sat there because I was at the end of my rope, one day I saw a sign and the number and I feel like it was the VW gods shinning down on me.

I got it back, it runs, there aren't new things wrong with it. I just can not say how thankful I am to finally find a knowledgeable and honest mechanic. I only wish I found them sooner, not so much for the money I wasted but for my sanity's sake! I live near Lake City.

The last problem I had with my car was a loss of power. Fortunately, Steve found the problem to be a simple vacuum line, which did not cost too much to repair. I do highly recommend him. Shop Owner Replies on His criticisms were based solely upon perspectives gathered by telephone.

We make no apologies for our pricing. Our fees are commensurate with our skills, the quality of our product and our personal regard for our customers each of whom are dear to us. Vincent a pleasurable drive to Gainesville or a tow if he waits long enough and a tranquil afternoon basking in the assumption that at days' end he will retrieve his car after paying a bill not to exceed eighty-nine dollars.

What a ray of sunshine into a brakedown weekend!! As it turned out my water pump blades had failed and because of there experience this was the first thing they checked. Matt the service writer even called carefully explaining to dad what had happened. Well, they replaced the water pump, timing belt, and coolant and the car runs Great! I am new to the area and drive vehicles with high mileage.

A trustworthy mechanic is essential to me and I have found that with Steve Wheeler. My vw beetle has k miles and Steve has kept it on the road and completely reliable. I have to sneak my GMC pu truck in as Steve is a foreign car automotive shop, but he humors me!

That vehicle has k horse trailering miles on it with no end in sight. Gordi is one of a kind!!! He is so helpful and knowledgable. Make sure that you have some time to spend because he will give you his time. Michael and Diana Elkavitch writes: Gordi does parts, repairs, sales, etc. Steve helped me with questions while I rebuilt my own engine. Was very knowledgeable and has parts if you need them.

I would trust him if you need repairs. Wish he was closer to me. Have not actually been in his shop and will raise recommendation to excellent if and when I visit. Came recommended by another local shop. I was passing through Phoenix on a cross country trip in my Rialta. Had some issues that needed to be addressed with thermostat replacement. These guys were great!

Thorough, fair, very knowledgeable and very courteous and friendly. They had three Rialtas at the same time, so I felt confident that I was at the correct place to have my vehicle worked on. They did what I asked in the time promised for a very reasonable price.

I had previously gone to Ken's VW repair to do an oil change. Ken gave me a free codes list and estimate of my cars repairs. One code showed malfunction with the cooling system and they asked the son mechanic to check the timing belt, she also mentioned that what is probably wrong is that I need to change the timing belt, thermostat, and water pump around bucks.

This would be ok if it needed it. However i was not determined unless the son would have said that the timing belt needed replacement and his response was "I didn't check it". This alarmed in my head because the mom and dad were still going on about the importance of the repair. I took my car to motors VW and got most of the stuff done as a recall for free.

South VW told me about I needed a Vacuum hose. But i didn't think it was important. My car wasn't feeling right and i assumed it was something with the engine. This is when I searched and found Eric. Eric told me over the phone that i needed to leave the whole day with him. This would have triggered an alarm in my head, but the above good review had lead me to believe I should trust him.

At around 3PM Eric tells me he finds no codes and asks me what is wrong with the car? My reply;" something in the motor and that the oil pressure is off, also South motors VW said something about a vacuum hose". I say" just put oil". I tell him that this is way too much of a cost to put oil on my car; the bill reads this: A True Rip Off.

He responds; I also spent time checking out the car, of course then. So why can't u tell me if I need a timing belt? And how much will it cost to replace the vacuum hose? Now, It's back to Ken's. I had personally replaced my fuel sender, voltmeter and fuel gage with no results.

Claming it was a pain in the butt to trouble shoot. I found V-Shop by reference and called Eric. Eric took my Van in and opened my dash started testing my circuit board, he them moved to the harness and found the problem: A pin connector was lose and needed tightening. I love these guys!

My driver shafts barrings broke and for a whole month I called and went to various places looking for the barrings, everywhere i went said the same thing: The price was fair and the serivice amazing! I am always going here for my future car problems! These guys tried to cheat me on a part that i bought from them simply because I'm a girl.

They didn't think I'd realize the difference we going to overcharge me. I wouldn't do business with them again even if my car broke down in front of the shop. I had him rebuild some CV axles for me a long time ago, his prices were good as was his quality of work Shop Rating: I have used them for 12 years for all my parts and highly recommend them.

We have used Matlock's for years for our '74 Transporter. This shop is the best for VW repairs. They serviced my son's Bug many times with perfect results. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I don't think they charge enough. Every repair is way less than I was thinking. Awesome little VW shop in Orlando. I found them by looking on the VW forums online. Their service on my TDI was a 3rd of what the dealerships were asking, and I can put money on it that they did a better job than the dealer would have.

Great place to take your VW! Took my 96 Winnebago Rialta to them to get a transmission fluid fix that the dealership quoted twice as much for. They are solid, reliable guys. Just make sure to call them early because they can have a long waiting list. Seem like nice guys but they no longer work on water cooled VW Vanagons.

Full disclosure, I have worked for Shannon. He is an honest vw mechanic. Scooter is extremely knowledgeable and is passionate about VDubs. He removed my 77 bus' original rusty exhaust system and in the process he had to replace 4 rusted-broken studs. He installed a new Vintage Speed exhaust system, and while he had access, he replaced the old pushrods and adjusted the valves.

He also replaced the fuel hose from tank to tank and replaced vacuum hoses and air filter. Scooter knows air cooled vw's better than anyone I have ever seen. I brought my vw from another state. Mechanics there were stumped, and Scooter has my beetle purring. The man is a true craftsman and expert and I reccomend him without hesitation.

He does operate as cash only payment. They also straightened out some bad work that had been done by other "VW" specialty shops. They were timely, fair and highly competent. Sundance is open and ready for business!! Excellent on all accounts until he closed shop here and opened up in VW Heaven.

Im sure he's there sharing stories and giving good advice. Best prices around and best customer service ever Shop Rating: I highly recommend Dave. I have had quite a time finding someone local that will talk with me about Vw's knowing that I want to do the work myself and not pay a shop.

He's willing to help with knowledge and he doesn't charge you for that. I really enjoy his attitude and shop. The place is a wreck but he can find any part you need in just a few seconds. I've been doing business with Dave for nearly two decades.

He's an honest guy who is always willing to help. I go out of my way to drive to his shop to purchase parts. Dave Clark is a VW specialists from way back. He can ship what you need with next day service. Great guy knows his stuff and is very fair!!

Joe is the local guru of VWs and keeps many rolling happily along. If he can't fix it, nobody can. Well had issue with our Rialta rv called from Teenese and talked to service dept. Explained issue and asked if they could help. They said yes ,they had a guy who worked on this type of van. Needless to say we were quite upset and angry that they told us this.

I have made numerous repair visits to Aristocrat or Napleton for minor and major work on my Westy. I have had nothing but excellent service from the advisors and mechanics. For older type VW, ask for Paul to work on your bugs and vans. Dean E Kramer writes: He really knows his old VWs!

Bring in your bugs and vans and ask for Paul to repair or maintain. Rick was factory trained in the 60's and has worked on VWs since. He is highly recommended by most in the Sarasota area. He works on all the air cooled and water cooled up to He came highly recommended to me when I first moved here 5 years ago, and I've not used any other mechanic since.

He also has his own supply of used parts and deals in new parts as well. He has worked on VWs since the sixties. Call ahead as he gets busy. I was visiting from So. California with our Beetle Convertible in tow. The side windows were horribly out of adjustment and missing many bolts, etc. I had tried several shops in So Cal trying to find someone who could or would work on them with no luck.

Sunshine took the job on, completely rebuilding the internal mechanisms in the doors. The windows work like new and I could not be happier. The quality of their work is outstanding and the prices are quite reasonable too! While on an extended road trip, I was in need of some very specific repairs to my Vanagon. As most Vanagon owners are, I am very particular about who touched my van and find myself uncomfortable around most mechanics.

After a bit or research, I found myself at their shop and they were able to slot me in for the next day so I could continue on my journey. The repairs were done professionally and neatly. The price was as agreed to and fair. I left with a high degree of confidence knowing the repair was done right with a great touch for service. Great guys that I was happy to find so far away form my home in Toronto.

My visit was back in March but I wanted to make sure I didn't forget to share this experience. I dropped my 73 Super Beetle off and she hadn't been running in a year. Two days after I dropped her off they called and said she was ready! She runs great now and I couldn't be happier! I am so glad I have my baby back! They are very nice too! I will definitely be going there for all my repair needs.

Seriously everyone with an antique Volkswagen go here to get work done. They are honest and have reasonable prices too. They definitely know what they are doing and are very experienced. I could not be any happier The tow company brought us to the local VW Dealership not Sunshine for repair.

As it turned out they caused more issues than they fixed and we became very familiar with the Tow company and their employees. Finally on one of the tows the driver suggested we go to Sunshine Auto, which we did. He said that he doesn't really work on water cooled VW's but he'd help us out.

Not only did he get our baby running again, he fixed all of the "repairs" that the the local VW Dealer had made. Car is running great, my wallet still has money left in it and Ron has made a customer for life. I Highly recommend Sunshine Auto Garage. Great people and work. We experienced a problem with our 86 Vanagon while in Florida. We were on a holiday from Canada and started imagining the worst.

Our Magic Bus aka Scooby Doo, started losing power and stalling at every stop. We made it to the VW dealership in Sarasota who, through a friend of a friend of a friend, recommended a reputable dealer who could fix our problem We arrived moments before closing time so Francis booked us an appointment first thing the following morning.

Ron dedicated his time to working on the van first thing and solved the problem shortly afterward He corrected it and we continued with our trip, for another m and made it home safely. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Brought Karman Ghia from the shop through Samba.

When car arrived it was even better than described and I am over the moon!!! So if you looking for a VW theses the guys to go too!!!! Francis and Ron couldn't have done a better job on my Westfalia. Allow me to digress: My bus had been sitting, not running for 11 years due to being in the military overseas, deployments, etc.

My chance to recover it from its garaged tomb in south Florida began when I received orders to Jacksonville Fl. I actually visited a different aircooled repair shop in the Jacksonville area, explained what I needed to get my bus running, and they said they were capable of performing the work, and would call me with an estimate.

Once on the phone, they had no idea what I was talking about, as if I had never visited there in person. So I looked to take my business elsewhere This is where Francis and Ron come into the story. I emailed them what needed to be done to get the bus in running order and within a day Francis responded they could, and would be happy to tackle the project.

Francis agreed to allow us to drop off the bus on a Saturday, and meet him at his shop. These guys truly love what they do! Here is a condensed list of what I had performed: I drove her 4 hours North to Jacksonville at 65 MPH without incident, and took her camping the following weekend, again without incident. They have my best recommendation for a mechanic on the Florida Gulf Coast area!

Francis and Ron, if you read this. Travelling the country in our '69 Westy, we needed help in Sarasota, and Fran and Ronnie were kind enough to squeeze us in- despite their full schedule. In only two hours Ronnie had us all sorted out. We were running great when we left their place, and we enjoyed checking out the parts cars, other owners cars, and memorabilia around the shop!

We will definitely stop back and visit Fran and Ron again if we're ever in town, for help or just to say 'hi'! Really can't say enough about their honesty and work! When your travelling, you're really at a mechanics mercy, and these guys did us righteous! If you're in Sarasota and need anything for your aircooled ride, don't hesitate to call for an appointment, or even just advice- if they can, they'll help you out!

Tell them Pearl The Bus sent you! And feel free to check out our fb page chronicling our trip at https: Just one glance at their web page or shop yard and you can instantly tell these guys eat, sleep and breathe air-cooled VWs. And while they seem to specialize in Type 2s, all air-cooled VWs are welcome. I dragged my nearly original but barely functional Bug to them all the way from Florida's heartland just to get their expert touch.

After quite a bit of work, my bug is now a daily driver! I strongly recommend these guys! Phil in Virginia writes: Just got back from a mile trip in our westy that we bought from the guys at Sunshine Auto Garage Thanks to Fran for helping a noob get it all together.

He was very willing to answer all my questions and even picked me up and showed me around Sarasota. Cool guys, good shop. Go there with confidence. We can't recommend the guys at Sunshine more highly! From start to finish they're excellent. Fran helped us complete the out of state purchase of our bus for our family, arranged for transport, and then gave it a good inspection with repairs before we even saw it in person.

When we finally saw it, it not only looked as good as we hoped but it was running beautifully and ready for the drive home to Naples. Take your VW to them with confidence! You wont be disappointed with their knowledge, fees or work ethic. Our story starts with a family road trip from San Fran to Seattle this past summer. To help the time pass we played the VW Bus game.

By the time we were done we had collected 76 vans between us along with the "bug" to get a van of our very own. My first car was a 69' Baja Bug so I had a little experience but not nearly enough to make a good decision. We live in Naples, FL and I ran across Sunshine during my attempts to find the right bus for our family.

I had no idea what to ask or how to even search. Fran was VERY patient with us, answering our questions a providing the sage advice only years of experience can bring. He offered to help us find a van and after a few months we found an awesome 78' OG with amazing personality. He helped us get it shipped in to his shop, checked it out top to bottom and after a few minor shop tweaks he sent us off with huge smiles.

Our family is very appreciative for everything Sunshine did for us and we are thrilled to be a VW bus family. Let the adventure begin!! Let me add to the long and growing list of Sunshine fans! After several months of shopping for a bus in the New England region and nationwide online , I was turning up nothing good.

Then I remembered this shop in Florida - Sunshine - that had done the restoration on my cousin's 76 Beetle cabrio. What the heck, I'll give 'em a call and see what they know. Got on the horn with Francis and gave him the basics of what I was looking for - tin top transporter bay, at least B- condition - and a budget range.

A couple weeks later I get the email that he's found it and sure enough he did. While the price was at the high end of my range, this is a REAL needle in a haystack bus. Completely OG minus the hubcaps , running beautifully, perfect sunroof. Francis did the basic setup, tune, brakes, gas tank, etc.

I flew down to Sarasota a couple weeks later and drove home the scenic route to New England up the Blue Ridge Parkway. So now I'm driving my dream thanks to Sunshine! I wish they were closer to home for those inevitable future repairs, but they've given great advice and reassurance whenever needed. We took my 16 yr old daughter's lovable but unreliable '77 VW van or Betty as we call her up to the Sunshine Garage to see if they could make her more roadworthy and they transformed her from a nice piece of yard sculpture to a fully functioning reliable vehicle that I'm not afraid to send my daughter and her friends out in.

The guys were great to work with and seem to care about Betty every bit as much as we do. They worked out every detail from replacing the engine right down to fixing the radio and properly installing the seatbelts and even washed and waxed her before we picked her up. You can't go wrong with this shop!

I was completely satisfied with the purchase. The price was fair, the van was actually nicer than they described it. The paint job which they did was flawless with a deep shine. Contact before and after the sale was always pleasant and responsive. The car drives as well as it looks. I would buy another car from them in a heartbeat though I think I found exactly the car I was looking for and won't be needing another one for quite some time.

First class, honest, trustworthy, committed to quality, old school operation. Drove my 74 Thing across the state so that they could complete a restoration Worked with me and gave solid advice on what to do and what not to do. Working with them was a great experience and I am happy to give them my highest recommendation. Live in St Petersburg FL.
